About This Architecture
Oracle RAC with Data Guard multi-site architecture combines active-active clustering at the primary datacenter with synchronous and asynchronous standby databases across two remote sites. The primary Oracle RAC Cluster runs on two nodes with shared ASM storage, connected via private interconnect for Cache Fusion, while redo logs stream synchronously to a standby database in SYNC mode (RPO=0) and asynchronously to a DR standby in ASYNC mode for geographic resilience. Data Guard Broker and Oracle Enterprise Manager orchestrate failover, replication, and monitoring across all three sites. This architecture delivers zero data loss for critical transactions, disaster recovery capability across regions, and transparent application failover through SCAN listeners.
