About This Architecture
Phased 150TB NetApp CIFS/SMB migration to Azure Files using six parallel AzCopy worker VMs on VMware ESXi, each with 8vCPU, 32GB RAM, and 10Gb NICs. Data flows from on-premises NetApp Storage Array through ExpressRoute or Site-to-Site VPN to Azure Files Premium FileStorage with SMB 3.1.1, preserving NTFS ACLs via Azure AD Domain Services and hybrid identity sync. Azure AD Connect synchronizes on-prem Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID, enabling Kerberos authentication and permission preservation across batched migration waves monitored by Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
