About This Architecture
Multi-AZ AWS IoT lifecycle architecture for smart energy management ingests sensor data from smart meters, motion sensors, and temperature sensors through AWS IoT Core and IoT Greengrass into a VPC spanning two availability zones. Data flows through Kinesis Data Streams into a raw data lake on S3, with collection-layer redundancy via DynamoDB replicas and RDS Aurora standby instances, while analytics subnets run Glue ETL, EMR Spark, Athena, SageMaker, and Redshift for insights. Application tier deploys EC2, ECS containers, Lambda functions, and API Gateway behind ALB and CloudFront CDN protected by WAF and Shield, with monetization workflows orchestrated via Lake Formation, Step Functions, and EventBridge. This architecture demonstrates high-availability IoT data ingestion, real-time analytics, and automated feedback loops with comprehensive observability through CloudWatch, X-Ray, CloudTrail, and Config.
